The painting tells us about confrontation and fusion of the male and the female. Gracefulness of the female body is contrasted to the swan neck, which symbolizes the male power. Swan's white wings are transforming into the angelic wings, but at the same time, its gaze is turned to darkness. Black colour is opposed to white colour as lust and innocence.
